The Wodeyar [Wadiyar] dynasty ruled the Kingdom of Mysore from 1399-1947.
After the death of Tipu Sultan, the British reinstated the Wodeyars to the throne of Mysore, when the four-year old Krishnaraja Wodeyar III (1799-1868), became king and the capital was returned to Mysore in the modern state of Karnataka.
